CASE STUDY: Automated Stenciling
Background
A major customer approached Z-Tec to design a prototype Automated Stenciling System to stencil a large 60" x 30" image on the side of a lumber package.
- The current technology utilized an aluminum stencil, with an operator using a paint roller to paint the image on the side of the lumber package.
- The current setup was messy, with paint all over the floor, and very labor intensive. The resulting image was often of poor quality.
Z-Tec's Solution
Z-Tec designed and demonstrated a prototype Automated Stenciling System capable of stenciling the entire 60" x 30" area in less than 45 seconds. The system was capable of stenciling not only graphic images, but variable information, such as date/time, shift number and operator initials.
The prototype was built on time and on budget, with speed and image quality exceeding the customer's expectation. The system was also easy to service and operate with a user friendly touch screen interface.
